Thoughtful fashion designed for everyday — all made with sustainability in mind.
At Albaray, it’s our mission to create considered clothing for modern lifestyles that stands the test of time, without compromising on quality.
Sustainability is at the forefront of every decision we make, questioning each stage of the process, from our fabrics to the finer details. In fact, we are proud to say that all of our packaging, swing tags and labels are recycled and recyclable.
We care about how our products are made, so only collaborate with partners we trust and respect. Over the last two decades, we have built many long-standing relationships with suppliers who share our values, to bring you style with a story woven into every garment we create.
We are a small team that thinks big, building something special from scratch with values we are passionate about – always with people, practices and the planet at the heart of everything we do.
Considering that more than 70% of the fashion industry’s emissions comes from raw material production, preparation and processing, we have carefully selected the following sustainably sourced fabrics.
Responsibly Sourced CottonWe champion organic cotton, not only for its super soft feel, but also because it has a proven lower environmental impact compared to standard cotton: it reduces water usage, greenhouse gas emissions, and uses fewer chemicals in production. Our organic cotton is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and grown in a way that protects and restores the environment whilst also improving farmers’ livelihoods. We do not source cotton from regions known to be high risk for forced labour.
Ecovero™ Viscose by LENZING™
We use Ecovero™ viscose, which meets strict environmental guidelines. Made from wood and pulp from certified and sustainably controlled renewable sources, the manufacturing process generates up to 50% lower carbon emissions and has less water impact compared to conventional viscose.
TENCEL™ X REFIBRA™ Lyocell
This fabric is soft, silky and drapes beautifully – it’s biodegradable too which makes it even more impressive. This unique blend combines sustainably sourced wood pulp with upcycled cotton waste to produce new virgin TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres. This diverts cotton trimmings from landfills or incineration, promoting a circular economy.
Linen is a natural material made from the flax plant, which is planet friendly as it needs very little water or chemical inputs to grow. It is durable and breathable with a lovely touch that keeps you cool during warmer seasons.
Following the pandemic, many suppliers were left with excess fabric and cancelled stock. Using this stock means we are preventing waste, whilst also directly helping our suppliers.
We work with five suppliers across China, Vietnam, Greece and India – each factory is known for its unique craftsmanship. Together, they help us create beautiful quality garments as ethically as possible, whilst still being kind to the environment.
It is important to us to look after the people who make our clothes at all stages of the supply chain. Our partners use industry standards like SMETA, GOTS and Oeko-Tex® to ensure they meet the highest standards when it comes to health and safety, environment, business ethics and labour standards. In addition they have collaborated with us on our ethical code of conduct which ensures all workers are treated with dignity, respect and fairness, and the environment is not harmed in the process.
We have visited our factories many times and it is always a joy to spend time with our partners and meet the workers. The excitement of seeing garments on the sewing machines never wanes and without our incredible suppliers we could not have created our brand. It is a true partnership in every sense of the word.
