French artist and designer Laetitia Rouget, working across ceramics, textiles and painting, and based between art, craft and everyday life, brings a joyful, expressive sensibility to everything she creates: colour-led, story-driven pieces that celebrate the beauty of ordinary moments. So when we began developing this latest collaboration, partnering with Laetitia felt like a natural way to introduce a more playful, artistic language into our collections.
In this Q&A, Laetitia shares what drew her to Albaray’s thoughtful, timeless approach to design, and how her signature spontaneity shaped the prints from the very beginning. From intuitive mark-making and capturing “fragments of summer” through colour and movement, to drawing inspiration from Mediterranean landscapes, vintage textiles and simple everyday scenes, she reflects on the details that bring the collection to life. We also explore the pieces she loved seeing realised in flowing fabrics, and who she hopes will connect with the capsule: those seeking uplifting, expressive designs that bring a sense of lightness, joy and effortless creativity to getting dressed.
For anyone discovering you for the first time, can you tell us a little about yourself and what you do?
I’m a French artist and designer based between art, craft and everyday life. My work spans ceramics, textiles, drawing and paintings, often exploring colour, storytelling and the poetry of ordinary moments. I’m particularly interested in objects that live with people, pieces that can bring a little joy, humour or warmth into daily rituals.
I was drawn to Albaray’s approach to thoughtful design and their focus on creating pieces that feel both timeless and easy to live with. It felt like a natural meeting point between my world and theirs — a chance to bring a playful artistic language into garments that people wear in their everyday lives.
How would you describe your personal style, whether it’s in your work, your home, or your everyday life?
I would describe it as colourful, expressive and a little bit whimsical. I like things that feel handmade, imperfect and full of personality. Whether it’s in my work, my home or how I dress, I’m always drawn to pieces that tell a story and feel joyful rather than overly polished.
You’ve said at the core of everything you create is a sense of playfulness and spontaneity - how did that translate into this collaboration?
The prints really came from a very intuitive process of drawing and playing with shapes, colours and movement. I wanted them to feel lively and optimistic, almost like little fragments of summer captured on fabric. That sense of spontaneity is important to me, it keeps the designs feeling fresh and expressive rather than too controlled.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Inspiration comes from many places — travel, nature, Mediterranean colours, vintage textiles, ceramics, interiors, and sometimes cinema or books. I’m also very inspired by everyday scenes: a table set for lunch, a landscape, flowers in a vase, or a moment shared with friends. I love translating those small, joyful details into patterns and images.
When you first saw the collection coming together, were there any pieces that immediately caught your eye?
Seeing the prints translated into flowing fabrics was really exciting. I especially loved how the colours moved with the garments and how the patterns felt alive when worn. It’s always a special moment to see drawings that began on paper become something people can move and live in.
Who do you hope connects with the collection, and what feeling or mood would you love for them to take away?
I hope it connects with people who enjoy colour, creativity and pieces that feel uplifting. I would love the collection to bring a sense of lightness and joy — something that makes you feel good when you put it on, like carrying a little bit of summer with you.
I’m currently working on a collaboration with my sister brand, Pangea, which focuses more on textiles. It feels like a new chapter, bringing fresh designs, colours and a different medium to the centre of my table. This year I’m also exploring more interior design projects, which I’m really looking forward to sharing as they begin to unfold over the summer.
