THE JOY THAT COMES WITH SHEDDING YOUR FOMO Another weekend has rolled around already. When I was planning my calendar, I had so desperately wanted to be in London for 154artfair which has become a staple fixture of my autumn. But thanks to their socials, I feel like I’ve already had a preview of what’s on at both that and friezeofficial . As much much as I’d like to be there, I’m fast realising that you can’t be everywhere all the time. In a job where I spend pretty much all day talking to people, and then after work, socialising, networking or dealing with personal emails/admin, one thing I’ve enjoyed over the past few weeks is conserving my social energy and cutting out the noise. In a world where information and interactions are constantly thrown at us, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, social invites and friends and family more generally, it’s so easy to become overstimulated and overwhelmed. Whether it’s no phone calls after 6pm, not leaving home all weekend (my favourite) or a social media detox, don’t forget to take the mental rest that you need.
